Employee Brochure Design

C.J. Mahan came to Forts Studios through our preferred commercial printer. They wanted to produce an employee handbook to serve as an outline of their company policies, goals, benefits and expectations, as well as a reference tool for employee information and safety guidelines.

At roughly 70 pages the handbook is very text-heavy and it features a lot of detailed information. In order to aid in readability we used colored headings and sub-heads throughout, and we organized the body pages in an outline format. We also incorporated full-color icons, graphics, and charts whenever possible.

Within the handbook C.J. Mahan also wanted to include a small information card and an acknowledgement form that each employee would be required to sign. The challenge was that the acknowledgement form needed to be a full 8.5” x 11” size for HR purposes, but they wanted to keep the handbook itself to a smaller 5.5” x 8.5” size. So we decided to run the full-sized form horizontally, folded in half, and we placed it at the back of the handbook as a tear-out sheet. This way we could keep the handbook to a smaller size, and the form could be removed, signed, and placed in an employee’s file as necessary.
