Logo Refresh
The Guitar Build Workshop in Nashville, TN immerses customers in the art of guitar building. During a full-day workshop their staff will teach you everything you need to know about the process, then walk you through the hands-on experience of sanding, staining, building, and setting up your own guitar. It is a fun and relaxed class for anyone of all skill levels, even non-guitarists. I’ve been there myself and I highly recommend it!
After a few years of initial success the workshop decided it was time for an identity update. While we agreed that there was some room to grow with the overall style of the logo, we felt that it was important to keep some of the existing styling for brand recognition.
We started with the same oval shape and trademark orange of the original logo. We also kept the original font, but stylized it at an angle with a more three-dimensional shadow treatment. It was important that the logo portray a Nashville vibe, so we added a few design elements that bring to mind vintage concert posters from the area.
The final design features five stars as a not-so-subtle nod to the popularity of the workshop, as well as the established date to portray longevity. Finally, we added six lines on either side of the logo to balance the lettering, and to reflect the six strings of a guitar passing over a soundhole. The end result is an updated logo that feels new and fresh, yet still retains the familiarity of the original.
The logo refresh was enthusiastically received and immediately put to work. It can be found on marketing materials, t-shirts and promotional stickers. A stripped-down version was created for laser engraving, and a special 10th Anniversary version was used in 2022.
