The IO KeepSafe by SPX Systems is designed to stabilize an intraosseous needle placed in a patient during emergency medical transport. Intraosseous (IO) infusion is the process of injecting fluid directly into the marrow of a bone when IV access is not possible. Don’t worry… from what I’ve been told, if you need this then you’re probably not awake to notice it.
The challenge is that IO needles can be bumped or dislodged during patient movement from houses, cars, etc., which can affect their operation. SPX Systems designed a new solution that easily secures an IO needle, but still allows for a clear view of the injection site and easy access if the need arises. SPX partnered with Forts Studios to shoot some professional photos as they introduced their new device to the EMS market.
