Business Card Design

One of the first marketing pieces a new company typically needs is a business card. Blue Oak already had a logo design in place, but no branding guidelines had been established yet. So we had the opportunity to work with a completely blank slate with their business card design.

When that situation arises I often take the same approach. I start with three initial design concepts – one that is more conservative, one that is more artistic, and one that falls somewhere in the middle. Once the client reviews the concepts we work together to figure out what they like about each design, what they don’t like, and why.

For this project I started with a vertical layout for a modern and trendy feel. The second concept had a similar overall style, but with a more traditional horizontal layout. For the third concept I designed a more conservative business card with a traditional layout and more white space.

I won’t tell you which one is my favorite, or which one the client picked… but those aren’t always the same, and that’s ok 😉
